adoption center and storefront project case study header

Client

Our client’s mission states that by working together, we can end the senseless killing of healthy, adoptable animals through education that promotes responsible pet ownership. Their goal is to drive transformative change in animal rescue, one pet at a time, as they expand the “No Kill” county model throughout California. They work to promote pet ownership through education and programs that offer free spaying and neutering, training, and veterinary care in underserved and low-income areas. They’re a nonprofit rescue organization that partners with county and city shelters to give abandoned animals a second chance at life. Through pet adoption and community programs, they focus on responsible pet ownership and solutions that address animal overpopulation and abandonment.

Project Description

Compass Consulting’s Network Engineering Services were called upon to support the launch of a new Adoption Store & Boutique at The Oaks, Thousand Oaks’ premier shopping center. Our client is a non-profit, animal charity, who partners with the public sheltering system to provide an all-breed rescue. The purpose of a permanent store front was to provide a new channel for matching adoptive families with shelter animals following the success of a series of adoption events at the mall earlier this year. The new boutique will also offer merchandising to help raise much needed funds for the dedicated work they’re is doing to make Ventura County and beyond “No Kill”.

Goal

The goal of the project was to provide a scalable solution for cabling and network infrastructure, and implement a cost-effective Voice Over telephony (VoIP) system.

Solution

Compass Consulting provided a scalable solution for cabling & network infrastructure. The cost-effective Voice over telephony (VoIP) system helped the client start small with the ability to add on infrastructure easily as needed. It combined the benefits of wireless communication with the rich business features of VoIP, enabling users to benefit from freedom of movement, multi-tasking convenience, call transfer & forwarding to cell phones, voicemail to email, electronic fax, etc. Compass managed this custom project from start to finish, including:

  • Coordination of new broadband connection line with service provider
  • Installation of cabling infrastructure to support new internet connection line
  • Customized, scalable VoIP solution with easy add-on infrastructure framework
  • Installation and configuration of Dell workstation and related software for store administration
  • Set up of Wi-Fi access point in the boutique
  • Installation of Quickbooks Touchscreen POS System and related hardware to allow processing of merchandise sales, inventory tracking, credit card processing, and employee time and attendance
  • Cabling infrastructure planning for future expansions such as security and puppy-cameras
