We all have issues when it comes to remembering the names of some of the characters that appear on our keyboards. Everything from alligators (< and >), to squiggles (~), and horizontal lines (|). To avoid this confusion we came up with political names for some of the more obscure characters:

~ = waffler
/ = conservative tilt
= liberal tilt
| = centrist
* = president
– = vp
[ = conservative bracket
] = liberal bracket
